Chewy, known primarily as an online retailer of pet products, also offers pet insurance through its CarePlus suite of wellness and insurance plans. Chewy partners with two major pet insurers, Lemonade and Trupanion, to provide comprehensive coverage for your furry friends. Lemonade has a rating of 3 stars, while Trupanion has a rating of 2.3 stars.

When it comes to coverage options, Chewy’s pet insurance plans offer accident-only coverage, accident and illness coverage, and wellness coverage depending on the partner and plan you choose. Lemonade plans have an upper age limit of 11 years old, while Trupanion offers unlimited annual coverage for eligible vet expenses. It’s important to note that not all insurers and plan types are available in every state.

If you’re interested in getting a quote for Lemonade and Trupanion pet insurance plans, you can visit Chewy’s website and apply for a quote to see which plans are available based on your pet and location. The coverage limits, deductible options, and waiting periods will vary depending on the insurer and specific plan you select.

For example, Lemonade offers three accident and illness policies — Base, Value, and Value Plus. The Base policy provides basic coverage, while the Value Plus plan offers the most extensive coverage. On the other hand, Trupanion offers two accident and illness policies — Essential Accident & Illness and Complete Accident & Illness, each with varying levels of coverage.

Chewy CarePlus insurance plans cover a range of accidents and illnesses, such as lacerations, cancer, hospitalization, and prescription medications. You can also opt for a wellness plan that covers preventative and routine care for your pet.

It’s worth mentioning that Chewy CarePlus plans do not cover preexisting conditions that existed before your pet was insured or developed during the waiting period. However, treatable and fully resolved preexisting conditions like parvovirus or kennel cough may be covered if they resurface.

Additionally, Chewy CarePlus customers in select states have access to a free vet helpline through Chewy, where you can chat with a licensed vet daily from 6 a.m. to 12 a.m. ET. However, this service is not available in Alaska, Georgia, or Hawaii.

When it comes to filing claims, Lemonade customers can do so through the Lemonade mobile app, while Trupanion customers have the option to file claims through the online customer portal. Lemonade customers have 180 days from the date of treatment to submit a claim, while Trupanion customers have 90 days from the time of treatment.

In terms of pricing, Chewy offers lower premiums than average for a plan with a $5,000 annual coverage limit. However, for an unlimited policy, the average rate is higher compared to other insurers. Multi-pet discounts are available through Lemonade and Trupanion, with both companies offering a 10% discount for insuring more than one dog or cat.

Overall, Chewy’s pet insurance plans offer comprehensive coverage options through its partnership with Lemonade and Trupanion. Whether you’re looking for accident-only coverage, accident and illness coverage, or a wellness plan, Chewy has options to suit your pet’s needs.
