Apple Reportedly Working on Bringing AI Chatbots to CarPlay
Apple CarPlay users may soon have the ability to converse with their favorite AI chatbot while on the go. According to Bloomberg, Apple is in the process of developing support for AI chatbot apps within CarPlay, as per undisclosed sources.
For those unfamiliar, Apple CarPlay is an application designed to operate on an iPhone and connect wirelessly with a vehicle’s infotainment system. It enables users to mirror select apps from their phone onto the vehicle’s infotainment screen. Through the use of Siri, drivers can interact with these apps, which include Apple Music, messaging, and navigation.
The upcoming Apple CarPlay Ultra takes things a step further by incorporating a central touchscreen display and digital dashboard directly in front of the driver. This enhanced version also grants users the ability to manage certain vehicle settings.
With this new development, popular AI chatbots such as Google’s Gemini, Anthropic’s Claude, and OpenAI’s ChatGPT could potentially make their way into vehicles, potentially overshadowing Apple’s own Siri assistant.
