Da’j Flowers (Cook County Crime Stoppers)

$10,000 Reward Offered for Information on City Employee’s Death

A $10,000 reward is now being offered for any information that could lead to the arrest of the individuals responsible for the tragic shooting death of Da’j Flowers, a city of Chicago employee. Flowers was found dead inside her West Rogers Park apartment on Friday morning.

Flowers, 36, was discovered fatally shot behind the front door of her second-floor residence in the 6900 block of North Bell Avenue during a well-being check conducted by Chicago police. She was a deputy director at the Office of Emergency Management and Communications, a city agency that oversees 911 calls and emergency dispatching services. Flowers held the position of senior administrative assistant within the agency.

Upon responding to the scene, an officer recovered a firearm inside the apartment. It remains unclear whether the weapon belonged to Flowers or how it may be connected to the shooting incident.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office is currently conducting an autopsy to gather more information about the circumstances surrounding Flowers’ untimely death.

Shortly after the tragic discovery, Cook County Crime Stoppers announced a $10,000 cash reward for any valuable information that could assist in identifying and apprehending those responsible for Flowers’ death.

Paul Rutherford, the executive director of Cook County Crime Stoppers, expressed his dismay, stating, “Another woman has lost her life in our city, and this is simply unacceptable. This act of violence was senseless, and someone out there knows the truth. We urge anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to come forward. Your tip could be the key to bringing justice and closure to the victim’s family.”
