The 2026 Rock the Country Festival has faced a setback as it has been canceled in Anderson, South Carolina. The decision came after several musicians dropped out of the concert, leading to uncertainty and disappointment among fans. Anderson County administrator Rusty Burns revealed to local newspaper The Post and Courier that the two-day show was canceled without providing a specific reason for the abrupt change.

Rock the Country, known as “a festival for the people,” was set to feature performances from popular artists like Kid Rock, Jason Aldean, Jelly Roll, and Blake Shelton. The festival had planned to visit eight towns across the United States this summer, aiming to bring live music and entertainment to fans across the country.

Despite the festival’s silence on the cancellation of its South Carolina dates, updates on the festival’s website and social media pages have highlighted the remaining seven shows on the tour. The festival is scheduled to kick off in Bellville, Texas, on May 1-2, followed by stops in Bloomingdale, Georgia, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Ashland, Kentucky, Hastings, Michigan, Ocala, Florida, and Hamburg, New York.

Prior to the cancellation of the Anderson show, rock band Shinedown announced their decision to withdraw from the entire tour, citing their commitment to uniting people through music and avoiding any involvement in activities that could further divide audiences. The band emphasized their stance on unity and inclusivity, stating that they did not want to participate in an event that might lead to polarization among fans.

Shinedown, comprised of Brent Smith, Zach Myers, Barry Kerch, Eric Bass, and Jasin Todd, clarified that their initial decision to join the festival was not politically motivated. However, as more information about the festival’s political affiliations emerged, the band felt it was necessary to step back and prioritize their commitment to bringing people together through music.

Barry Kerch, the band’s drummer, expressed surprise at the political undertones of the festival, particularly Kid Rock’s involvement as a supporter of President Donald Trump and the Republican party. The band’s decision to withdraw from Rock the Country was also influenced by the departure of other artists like Carter Faith, Morgan Wade, and Ludacris, who cited various reasons for their exit from the lineup.

As the festival faces challenges and changes in its lineup, fans and music enthusiasts are left wondering about the future of Rock the Country and its impact on the live music scene. Despite the setbacks, the remaining shows on the tour promise to deliver unforgettable performances and exciting experiences for attendees across the country.
