Five individuals from Kentucky have been taken into custody for allegedly confining a 2-year-old boy in a cage-like area filled with feces and urine inside their home. The Carrollton Police Department discovered the toddler locked behind a metal and wooden enclosure after receiving a tip about a possible caged child.

The room where the child was kept was described as being covered in urine and feces, according to a criminal complaint obtained by McClatchy News. Two other children were also found in the residence on 7th Street and were removed by the Cabinet for Health and Family Services following the distressing revelation.

The suspects, identified as Brenda Chilton (71), William Mahoney (72), Codey Johnson (29), Tammy Simmons (52), and Shelby Turocy (28), have been arrested and charged with criminal abuse and wanton endangerment. The exact relationships between the adults and the children were not disclosed by the authorities.

Shelby Turocy is facing additional charges for possession of methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. All five suspects are currently being held at the Carroll County Detention Center as the police investigation continues.

The disturbing incident has shocked the community and raised concerns about the welfare of children in the area. The authorities are working diligently to ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals involved.
