New Cult Gaia Collection: Bringing Vacation Vibes to New York Fashion Week
This New York fashion week, attendees are faced with the challenge of staying stylish in the midst of extremely cold weather. While many are looking for practical winter wear, Cult Gaia designer Jasmin Larian Hekmat is staying true to her brand’s signature vacation-inspired aesthetic.
Hekmat’s latest collection draws inspiration from her own travels, particularly old Italian frescoes and textures found in nature. Shot in a Brazilian jungle, the new assortment features beaded and sculptural dresses that transport wearers to a tropical getaway.
The earthy, textural feel of the collection is evident in many of the signature dresses, which are draped in strands of pearls or ruched like curtains on the body. Knitwear pieces feature three-dimensional floral appliqués, while flower prints in tapestry-like blues and browns add a touch of vintage charm.
In addition to statement frocks, Hekmat has introduced more minimal items this season in an effort to offer more day-to-day wear. A chocolate brown crop top paired with a flowing maxi skirt and a simple bodycon dress in a sky-blue color way are among the more understated pieces that cater to the Cult Gaia customer.
The accessories in the collection add to the overall fun and whimsical feel, with heels featuring removable Dahlia flowers and wicker clutches that double as a backgammon board. Hekmat aims to make all her pieces engaging and interactive, allowing wearers to entertain themselves while out to dinner.
