Community Rallies Together After James Van Der Beek’s Passing
The community has come together in a big way following the death of James Van Der Beek.
The actor passed away at the age of 48 on Feb. 11 after a courageous battle with colorectal cancer. In the wake of this heartbreaking news, his friends took action by starting a GoFundMe account to support his wife, Kimberly Van Der Beek, and their six children.
Within a day, the GoFundMe campaign surpassed $1 million, far exceeding its original goal of $250,000. The outpouring of support and generosity from the community has been truly remarkable.
“In the wake of this loss, Kimberly and the children are facing an uncertain future. The costs of James’s medical care and the extended fight against cancer have left the family out of funds,” the message on the GoFundMe page reads. The funds raised will help cover essential living expenses, pay bills, and support the children’s education during this difficult time.
Van Der Beek leaves behind six children: Olivia, Joshua, Annabel, Emilia, Gwendolyn, and Jeremiah, who are now in need of support and stability.
Last year, the actor made the decision to sell memorabilia from his time on “Dawson’s Creek” to help with his medical expenses. This included props, set pieces, and wardrobe items from the beloved show. He also sold jerseys from “Varsity Blues” to further support his treatment and assist other families facing similar challenges.
The community’s response to James Van Der Beek’s passing has been overwhelming, showcasing the power of compassion and unity in times of need. Together, we can make a difference and provide hope for Kimberly and her children as they navigate the road ahead.
