The Peruvian culinary drama “Mistura” has been making waves in South America, with successful theatrical releases in Peru and Colombia. Now, the film has secured distribution deals for North America and the U.K. ahead of its debut at the EFM market.
Outsider Pictures, headed by Paul Hudson, will be releasing “Mistura” in North America with a limited theatrical release set for April 24. Meanwhile, the U.K. rights have been acquired by Unannounced Film Company, who plans to release the film in the Spring.
Written and directed by Ricardo de Montreuil, “Mistura” is set in 1960s Peru and follows the story of Norma, played by Barbara Mori, as she rebuilds her life after her husband (Christian Meier) leaves her. Through a culinary journey, Norma discovers a new path by embracing Peru’s cultural depth and culinary traditions, creating a restaurant that becomes a symbol of reinvention.
The film has received high praise in its home market, Peru, where it completed a 10-week theatrical engagement with standing ovations and enthusiastic audience response. It was a commercial success, becoming the third-highest-grossing local production of the year. The film has also been well-received in Colombia and is now ready for international distribution.
“I am proud of the incredible work of so many artists who made ‘Mistura’ possible,” said producer Ivan Orlic. “This film is not just a culinary period piece, but also an homage to the Peruvian people and our traditions.”
With executive producers including Mori and Meier, “Mistura” has garnered attention at international film festivals and is now ready to captivate audiences in North America and the U.K. The deals for distribution were negotiated by Orlic, Hudson, and Laurence Gornall.
As the film prepares for its global release, the team behind “Mistura” is excited to share this story of reinvention and entrepreneurship with audiences around the world. Ganiden Media represents the film’s international rights, ensuring that this captivating tale reaches a global audience.
