HGTV Fires Nicole Curtis from “Rehab Addict” Show After Racial Slur Incident
HGTV has taken disciplinary action after RadarOnline.com revealed a video of Rehab Addict star Nicole Curtis dropping the “N word.” After reaching out to the network, representatives confirmed that the host has been fired.
In an official statement, HGTV informed Radar that they were “recently made aware of an offensive racial comment made during the filming of Rehab Addict.” They stated that such language is hurtful and disappointing to viewers, partners, and employees, and it does not align with the values of HGTV.
Due to the racial epithet in the video, HGTV has removed the series from all its platforms. They emphasized their commitment to fostering a culture of respect and inclusion in their content and workplace.
In the exclusive video obtained by Radar, Curtis was heard using the racial slur while having trouble with renovation work. She immediately recognized the impact of her words and pleaded with the crew to stop recording.
“What the f*** is that I just said?” she asked, as some crew members laughed off camera. “Nick, you gotta, you gotta, can you kill that? F*** my life.”
Following the video’s release, Curtis returned to social media, seemingly brushing off the incident. She shared a photo promoting her show’s return and expressed pride in her authentic approach to renovation work.
“There’s never been 100 people labeled production when I’m working,” she noted. “It’s always been about the house.”
Curtis emphasized her team’s dedication to restoring history and dealing with challenges like squatters and drugs during their projects.
Prior to HGTV’s statement, the network deleted an Instagram post about the show’s return. The link to the post now redirects to a message stating it is no longer available.
While the network has taken swift action in response to the incident, Curtis remains firm in her commitment to her work and her team’s efforts in restoring homes.
