James Van Der Beek Opens Up About Financial Struggles During Treatment
James Van Der Beek recently shared candidly about the financial challenges his family faced during his treatment in a series of social media posts. The actor revealed how his inability to work due to his gruelling treatment left him unable to provide for his wife and children.
With extensive medical bills and living costs piling up, Van Der Beek and his family made the difficult decision to move from their remote Texas ranch, which they had purchased in 2020, to an apartment closer to the hospital where he was receiving treatment.
According to RadarOnline.com, in December, Van Der Beek decided to sell some memorabilia from the set of Dawson’s Creek to help alleviate some of the financial burden. The actor managed to raise $47,000 from the sale.
One of the most notable items sold was the necklace that his character, Dawson Leery, famously gifted to Joey, played by Katie Holmes, which fetched $26,628. Additionally, a collection of decorations from Dawson’s bedroom, including an Indiana Jones model kit and an E.T. doll, sold for $5,991, while a chairback went for $2,663.
Van Der Beek’s openness about his family’s financial struggles during his treatment has resonated with many fans, who have shown their support and admiration for the actor’s courage in sharing his story.
