Representative Jake Auchincloss emphasizes the importance of politicians disconnecting from their phones and reconnecting with nature. He believes that while most politicians are friendly in person, their online behavior can be quite aggressive.

We interviewed the Democratic Congressman from Massachusetts on Capitol Hill, where he discussed the disparities between politicians’ real-life interactions and their online presence.

Auchincloss shared that he received a device over Christmas that disables his phone, prompting him to suggest that his fellow politicians should consider similar technology to disconnect from the digital world and spend more time outdoors.

While acknowledging the importance of social media as a communication tool, Rep. Auchincloss believes that face-to-face interactions foster better understanding and empathy, especially across political divides.

Furthermore, the congressman defends his colleagues, stating that the majority of them are dedicated to governing effectively, but a small minority’s negative behavior tarnishes the reputation of the entire political sphere.

In conclusion, Rep. Auchincloss humorously suggests taking Congress outside to reconnect with nature and promote a healthier balance between online and offline interactions.
