On the red carpet for the highly anticipated Apple TV+ series “The Last Thing He Told Me” on Thursday evening, Hollywood stars Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Garner fondly reminisced about their friend James Van Der Beek, who tragically passed away at the age of 48 on Wednesday.
Van Der Beek had recently worked on the “Legally Blonde” prequel series titled “Elle,” which is set to premiere on Amazon Prime on July 1. Witherspoon, who is an executive producer on the series, shared her experiences of working with Van Der Beek, stating, “It was so fun because, you know, growing up in this business, we always knew James. He was always around. We went to parties together. It’s just a devastating loss.”
She went on to praise Van Der Beek’s character and values, mentioning how he was loved and respected within the entertainment community. Witherspoon also expressed her condolences to his family during this difficult time, emphasizing his kindness and grace in every action.
Garner, who also had a close relationship with Van Der Beek, reflected on their shared journey in the industry, stating, “We grew up together. We celebrated their success, and James always brought his whole family into every room with him, and I just send all of my love to Kimberly and to their beautiful children.”
Following Van Der Beek’s passing, Garner took to social media to express her sorrow, sending love and support to his wife Kimberly and their children as they navigate this heartbreaking loss.
Both Garner and Witherspoon have been actively involved in the production of “The Last Thing He Told Me,” with Garner starring in and executive producing the series, while Witherspoon serves as an executive producer through her production company Hello Sunshine.
The second season of “The Last Thing He Told Me” is set to premiere on February 20, showcasing the talent and dedication of the cast and crew, including the late James Van Der Beek. His presence and impact on the entertainment industry will truly be missed, but his legacy will continue to inspire and uplift those who knew him.
