Christchurch residents in eastern suburbs are advised to boil their water due to bacteria contamination.
A public health alert was issued today for residents in New Brighton, Burwood, Wainoni, Aranui, and Southshore.
The alert states that all water, including filtered water, must be boiled continuously for at least one minute.
Residents and visitors to these areas will receive text alerts regarding the situation.
The Christchurch City Council mentioned that staff and contractors are currently conducting additional testing and investigations to determine the cause of the contamination.
The boil water notice will remain in effect until further notice.
