Tibi’s Fall 2026 Collection: A Nostalgic Journey with a Modern Twist
During Tibi’s fall 2026 presentation in the Financial District, Amy Smilovic took a trip down memory lane, drawing inspiration from her time on Wall Street and her late ’90s Carolyn Bessette Kennedy-inspired style. The collection reflects a sense of nostalgia, but with a modern twist that is characteristic of Tibi’s aesthetic.
Reflecting on the past, Smilovic emphasized the idea that while we may revisit familiar places and styles, we ourselves are constantly evolving. “Even when you go back, the physicality of the place might not have changed: your clothes might not have changed, but you’ve changed,” she said. This sentiment guided the design process, prompting questions such as “What do we love? What do we want to carry forward with us? How do we want to manipulate it into something new?”
The collection showcases a mix of old and new, with pieces like pull-on stirrup pants with a drop crotch, long streamlined coats, and a sheer plaid capelet that adds a touch of nostalgia with a modern twist. Modularity and versatility are key themes, with pieces like a soft, streamlined blazer that can be worn as a jacket or a blouse, flannel balloon trousers with a tapered ankle that can be buttoned back for a different silhouette, and a two-piece apron skirt that can be worn together or apart.
Even the shoes in the collection are thoughtfully designed, with sleek slingback heels featuring adjustable, bra-strap-esque straps that offer both style and functionality. Smilovic’s attention to detail and practicality shine through in every aspect of the collection.
While Tibi is known for its pragmatic approach to design, the fall 2026 collection is far from bland. Smilovic incorporates statement-making colors and designs, such as a slim-fitting olive-green skirt finished with a dramatic, horsehair-filled ruffle. “There are a million things I know I’ll wear it with,” she said, highlighting the versatility and wearability of the piece.
