The Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild (IATSE Local 706) Awards recently honored the top achievers in the Feature Motion Pictures categories. Among the winners were “Sinners,” “Frankenstein,” and “One Battle After Another,” who took home the prestigious awards.
“One Battle After Another” stood out by winning two awards for best contemporary make-up and best contemporary hair styling. During her acceptance speech, Ahou Mofid expressed the significance of the film, emphasizing the importance of fighting for freedoms and rights. She highlighted the impact of movies in raising awareness and inspiring change in society.
“Sinners” also received two awards for best period and/or character make-up and best period and/or character hair styling. The team behind the film showcased their talent and dedication in bringing the characters to life through their exceptional work.
Television winners included popular shows like “The Studio,” “Palm Royale,” “Stranger Things: Season 5,” “Saturday Night Live,” “Dancing with the Stars,” and “Skeleton Crew.” The awards ceremony, presented by L’OrĂ©al Groupe and Giovanni Eco Chic Beauty, celebrated outstanding achievements in make-up and hair styling across various platforms.
The event, held at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel, was attended by over 850 guests, including guild members, industry executives, and press. Actress and producer Rachael Harris hosted the evening, while Frankie Grande entertained as the star host of the “Live from the Red Carpet” pre-show livestream.
Recognizing the contributions of industry veterans, Amy Madigan received the Distinguished Artisan Award, acknowledging the crucial role of the hair and makeup team in the filmmaking process. The Vanguard Award was presented to Michael Johnston, a pioneering force in children’s and teen television. Greg Nelson and Judy Alexander Cory were honored with the Lifetime Achievement Awards for Make-Up and Hair Stylists, respectively.
The ceremony also paid tribute to industry professionals who have passed away, with a heartfelt performance by Angie Wells. The evening concluded with a list of winners across different categories, showcasing the talent and creativity of artists in the industry.
