When it comes to the foundation of Donald Trump’s political empire, the male voter base has been the bedrock for over a decade. This demographic has been a critical player in his electoral successes, particularly in the 2016 defeat of Hillary Clinton and the 2024 contest against Kamala Harris. In 2016, Trump captured 52% of the male vote compared to Clinton’s 41%, and in 2024, he expanded that lead to 55% versus Harris’s 43%. The only group that showed even stronger support for Trump was white voters, who gave him 57% of their backing in both elections.

Initially, one might assume that men would naturally align with Trump’s stringent immigration policies, especially considering their historical support. However, a noticeable shift is taking place: men are beginning to distance themselves from Trump’s immigration stance.

Reuters recently highlighted this trend in a new poll:

The latest Reuters/Ipsos poll indicates a significant decline in male support for Trump’s immigration policies compared to late last year.

While male voters were pivotal in Trump’s 2024 electoral victory, his immigration approval rating among men hovered around 50% throughout 2025. However, the latest survey reveals that only 41% of men now approve of his immigration management. Conversely, support among women has also declined, slipping from approximately 40% throughout most of 2025 to just 35% in the most recent findings.

This trend spells trouble for the Republican Party as they look ahead to the midterm elections, where losing the male vote could have severe repercussions for their electoral strategy.
