A 17-year-old boy has been taken into custody for allegedly firing shots inside and outside a liquor store on the North Side of Chicago. The incident took place at Red Violin Wine and Spirits located at 7407 North Clark Street in Rogers Park on Thursday evening.

Chicago police responded to reports of shots fired at around 6:36 p.m. According to a statement from the CPD, the teenager entered the store, stole merchandise, and fired multiple gunshots. Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident as employees managed to hide inside the store. The suspect then proceeded to fire more shots at the building before fleeing on foot.

Approximately 20 minutes after the initial call, a resident in the area contacted 911 after observing someone behaving suspiciously behind their building on a surveillance camera. The individual was seen changing clothes multiple times and refusing to leave the area. Responding officers identified the person as the perpetrator from the liquor store incident and took him into custody. A firearm was recovered from the suspect by the police.

As of Thursday night, charges against the teenager were pending. It is essential to note that original reporting like this is made possible by the support of our readers. CWBChicago was established in 2013 by a group of residents from Wrigleyville and Boystown who were dissatisfied with the lack of accurate information provided at local Community Policing meetings. Over the years, our coverage area has expanded to include Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side neighborhoods. Despite our growth, our mission remains the same—to deliver original reporting on public safety issues with depth and context that surpasses traditional media outlets.
