An Arizona couple made a disturbing discovery in the desert near Nancy Guthrie’s home, just days after she was reported missing. They found a pair of blood-stained gloves and a rock with a dried blood droplet, raising concerns about Guthrie’s whereabouts.
The couple found the black gloves on the ground 10 feet apart off Campbell Avenue in the Catalina Foothills of Tucson on Feb. 11. They reported the finding to authorities, worried that it might be connected to Guthrie’s disappearance.
Investigators have found several gloves in the area, possibly matching the ones worn by an armed individual seen outside Guthrie’s home on the day she went missing. The couple refrained from touching the gloves to avoid contaminating any evidence but took photos of the scene.
A rock, on which one of the gloves was lying, appeared to have blood splatters. The couple immediately reported their findings to the sheriff’s department, prompting an investigation into the matter.
As the search for Guthrie continued, DNA collected from the gloves did not match any results in the FBI’s database, nor did any DNA evidence found inside Guthrie’s home. FBI officials were seen collecting at least one glove off the side of the road, similar to the kind worn by the masked suspect spotted outside Guthrie’s home.
Despite these findings, authorities have not identified any suspects or persons of interest in Guthrie’s disappearance.
