The exhibition also features the work of artist Alex Hartley, whose piece “All systems are Aligned” combines recycled solar panels, hand-dyed giclee prints, acrylic paint, resin, Unistrut, limestone boulders, solar thermal tube, and LED lights. The artwork seeks to harness, store, and focus the energy and power of resonant standing stones.

Hartley’s installation features photographs taken of Dartmoor’s Neolithic stone rows and circles, embedded under resin onto recycled solar photovoltaic panels. The chosen stones are arranged in newly imagined cosmic constellations, creating a sci-fi and otherworldly appearance. The fusion of ancient and contemporary technologies is evident in the combination of solar panels and images of galaxies, symbolizing a connection between the past and the future.

The installation consists of six panels mounted on steel frameworks, forming a circle around granite boulders embedded with evacuated solar thermal tubes. The intention behind the artwork is to capture the essence of the vibrant energy and power of the ancient standing stones, creating a visual representation of the alignment of systems and energies in the universe.

Both Janette Kerr and Alex Hartley’s works in the exhibition showcase the intersection of art and science, inviting viewers to contemplate the passage of time, the energy of the sun, and the resonance of ancient structures in a modern context. The Cosmos exhibition at the Royal West of England Academy offers a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the dialogue between artists and astronomers, translating the mysteries of the universe into tangible and thought-provoking visual experiences. The commissioned exhibition “Dartmoor: A Radical Landscape” at RAMM, Exeter, showcased a diverse range of artworks that explored the theme of solar dynamics and the interconnectedness of art, science, and nature. One of the featured artists, Alex Hartley, created a captivating piece that combined a solar panel with manipulated photographs of Neolithic standing stones, highlighting the continuity of solar technology from ancient times to the present.

Another artist, Ione Parkin RWA, presented a stunning painting titled “Fusion” that was inspired by the intense heat and turbulent motion of super-heated plasma. The artwork depicted dynamic physics at work, with energy moving, being emitted, absorbed, and emitted again, mirroring the restless motion of plasma on the surface of the sun.

Michael Porter RWA, on the other hand, showcased an intriguing piece titled “Impossible Landscape,” which depicted a visionary vista beyond the experientially knowable. Porter’s work extended to an imagined connection with the cosmos, blending elements of terrestrial geology with alien structures to inspire viewers to dream beyond the boundaries of what is known.

Overall, the exhibition at RAMM offered a thought-provoking exploration of the intersection between art, science, and nature, inviting viewers to contemplate the vastness of the universe and the interconnectedness of all things. The artists’ unique perspectives and creative interpretations of solar dynamics and cosmic landscapes provided a visually stunning and intellectually stimulating experience for all who attended. The world is constantly changing and evolving, and with it, so are the ways in which we live our lives. Technology, in particular, has had a huge impact on society, transforming the way we communicate, work, and even how we shop. One of the most significant changes brought about by technology is the rise of e-commerce.

E-commerce, or electronic commerce, refers to the buying and selling of goods and services online. It has revolutionized the retail industry, making it easier and more convenient for consumers to shop from the comfort of their own homes. With just a few clicks, shoppers can browse a vast selection of products, compare prices, read reviews, and make purchases without ever having to leave their couch.

The growth of e-commerce has been exponential in recent years, with more and more businesses jumping on the digital bandwagon to reach a wider audience and increase their sales. In fact, according to a report by Statista, global e-commerce sales are projected to reach $4.2 trillion by 2020, highlighting the immense potential of this booming industry.

There are several factors that have contributed to the success of e-commerce. One of the main advantages is the convenience it offers consumers. With busy lifestyles and limited time, many people prefer the ease of shopping online rather than going to physical stores. E-commerce also provides a greater variety of products and services, allowing customers to find exactly what they are looking for without having to visit multiple stores.

Additionally, e-commerce has opened up new opportunities for small businesses and entrepreneurs to reach a global market. With a website and a solid marketing strategy, even the smallest of businesses can compete with larger corporations and attract customers from around the world. This has leveled the playing field and democratized the retail industry, giving everyone a chance to succeed.

However, e-commerce is not without its challenges. One of the main concerns for consumers is the issue of security and privacy. With the rise of cybercrime and data breaches, many people are wary of sharing their personal information online. E-commerce businesses must take steps to ensure the security of their customers’ data and build trust with their audience.

Another challenge is the issue of competition. With so many e-commerce websites vying for customers’ attention, businesses must find ways to stand out from the crowd and differentiate themselves from their competitors. This can be achieved through strong branding, exceptional customer service, and innovative marketing strategies.

In conclusion, e-commerce has transformed the way we shop and conduct business. With its convenience, accessibility, and global reach, it has become an integral part of our daily lives. As technology continues to advance and consumer behavior evolves, e-commerce will only continue to grow and shape the future of retail. It is an exciting time to be a part of this dynamic and ever-changing industry.
