The Miami Dolphins made some significant moves on Monday, parting ways with Tyreek Hill and Bradley Chubb. Now, they are reportedly taking calls for Minkah Fitzpatrick, a five-time Pro Bowler who they brought back last offseason with hopes of stability rather than a fire sale.

Fitzpatrick has one year and $15.6 million left on his deal, which may be hard for the Dolphins to justify as they pivot away from their win-now window. This has caught the attention of several teams who are likely interested in the talented safety.

Here are five teams that should target Minkah Fitzpatrick:

#5 New England Patriots

The Patriots built a strong defense in the AFC last season but struggled in the red zone, ranking 30th in the league. Fitzpatrick’s ballhawking instincts and physicality against the run could address this weakness directly. While trading Fitzpatrick to a division rival may be a challenge, the Patriots might need to offer a compelling deal to make it happen.

#4 LA Rams

With Matthew Stafford returning for another season, the Rams are in win-now mode. The departure of Kamren Curl leaves a gap at safety that Fitzpatrick could fill seamlessly. With a strong defense already in place, adding Fitzpatrick could make the Rams even more dangerous. The only question is whether Miami will accept the compensation offered.

#3 San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers had a struggling pass defense last season, ranking poorly in several key areas. Fitzpatrick could provide the stability and high football IQ needed to overhaul their secondary. His proven track record and versatility could make a significant impact on the team’s performance.

#2 Dallas Cowboys

Known for making big moves in the offseason, the Cowboys could target Fitzpatrick to address their defensive struggles. With Donovan Wilson hitting free agency and the defense underperforming, Fitzpatrick’s immediate impact could be beneficial. The Cowboys also have extra draft capital to structure a deal that Miami might accept.

#1 Washington Commanders

Washington made it to the NFC championship game in 2024 but missed the playoffs in 2025. Coach Dan Quinn understands the importance of building a strong defense, and Fitzpatrick’s production in 2025 shows he can still make a significant impact. His versatility and football intelligence align with what Quinn values in a player.

Overall, Minkah Fitzpatrick is a highly sought-after player with proven skills and experience. It remains to be seen which team will make the move to acquire him, but any team that does will undoubtedly benefit from his presence on the field.
