Wispr Flow, the AI-powered dictation startup, has made a significant leap by launching its Android app today. The company initially released its app for Mac and Windows, followed by the iOS launch in June 2025.

On iOS, users had the convenience of using Wispr Flow through a dedicated keyboard. However, the Android interface offers a different user experience, allowing access to the dictation feature through a floating bubble. Users can simply hold the bubble to dictate or tap once to start and then close the bubble to stop the process. Similar to its functionality on other platforms, the app also cleans up filter words and formats the text based on the context of the app and spoken content.

Tanay Kothari, the co-founder and CEO of Wispr Flow, expressed his excitement about the Android launch, stating, “Android finally gave us the freedom to build the voice experience we always wanted. Only when the platform gets out of the way can we truly expect voice to replace typing on mobile.”

The app boasts support for translation in over 100 languages and seamless integration across various apps. In conjunction with the Android app release, Wispr Flow announced an infrastructure rewrite that has made dictation 30% faster than before.

While the market is flooded with AI-powered dictation apps for desktop and iOS, Wispr Flow stands out as one of the few available on Android, alongside Typeless, which recently launched an app for the platform. Additionally, Wispr Flow has introduced a new model for Hinglish, a blend of Hindi and English, catering to users in India who communicate in a mix-coded manner.

The company reported an overwhelming response from users, with over 1.3 million words spoken in the last few days alone. Wispr Flow has garnered significant attention from venture capitalists, raising a total of $81 million in funding. In June, the startup secured $30 million in funding led by Menlo Ventures, followed by another $25 million round led by Notable Capital in November. The latest round valued the company at $700 million, solidifying Wispr Flow’s position as a frontrunner in the AI dictation app market.
