Two juveniles, one of whom is only 14 years old, have been arrested for a series of robberies in the Loop on Monday night. The crime spree began at around 9:30 p.m. when the two suspects targeted a 23-year-old man on South Dearborn Street. Both juveniles implied they were armed by holding their hands in their hoodies as they robbed the man.
Over the next 20 minutes, the pair continued their criminal activities, targeting additional victims on South Clark Street and South Federal Street. In one instance, they were seen attacking a man and chasing him into a building while threatening to shoot him.
As the juveniles fled the scene, they boarded a southbound CTA Red Line train. Unbeknownst to them, one of their victims was able to track his stolen phone and share its location with the police. Officers coordinated a response and prepared to intercept the train.
However, before they could do so, the juveniles robbed another passenger at the 47th Street station. They were apprehended by the police at the CTA station shortly thereafter.
The two boys are facing multiple charges, including three counts of aggravated robbery, two counts of attempted aggravated robbery, and two counts of aggravated battery. Their identities have not been released due to their status as juveniles.
