Critical Role, a popular D&D-inspired brand, has recently brought on board Alyssa Zeisler, a former Hallmark Media executive, as the general manager of its paid streaming service, Beacon. Launched in May 2024, Beacon offers exclusive content, early access, live event pre-sales, VODs, podcasts, and merchandise discounts for fans of Critical Role.
In her new role, Zeisler will be responsible for overseeing Beacon’s product roadmap, business performance, content and platform strategy, and the overall evolution of Beacon as a community hub and creator-led ecosystem. Critical Role aims to grow Beacon as a fan-first membership experience while expanding across various formats and platforms under Zeisler’s leadership.
Zeisler’s background includes serving as the vice president of product at Hallmark Media, where she played a key role in the relaunch of streamer Hallmark+. Prior to that, she held positions at Dow Jones and The Wall Street Journal, focusing on subscription and strategic products development.
Critical Role CEO, Travis Willingham, expressed his confidence in Zeisler, stating that her leadership qualities align perfectly with the next phase of Beacon’s growth. Zeisler herself emphasized her goal of making Beacon the gold standard for direct-to-consumer platforms in the TTRPG space, focusing on creating a seamless experience for fans and evolving the ecosystem into an industry-defining entity.
With Zeisler at the helm, Critical Role’s Beacon is poised to continue its mission of providing fans with exclusive content and a unique community experience, setting the stage for sustainable expansion and growth in the future.
