Corcel Exploration has recently received approval from the US Bureau of Land Management (BLM) for the reclamation bond required to kickstart operations at its Yuma King Project in Arizona.
This permit signifies a significant milestone for the company, allowing them to commence site preparations and kick off a drilling program at the Yuma King Project. The focus of Corcel Exploration’s drilling efforts will be on copper and gold skarn as well as porphyry-style mineralization, with plans to cover approximately 1,500m of diamond core across six to eight drill sites.
The decision to target these specific areas was informed by recent geophysical surveys and geochemical sampling conducted near the Yuma King Mine. Past drilling results in this region have shown promising intersections of 0.78% copper, 0.53 grams per tonne (g/t) gold, and 6.3g/t silver over a 45.4m span.
Corcel Exploration aims to expand copper-gold mineralization along strike and down dip at the Yuma King Mine while also exploring for new zones of significant mineralization. The initial drilling phase at the Yuma King Mine area will focus on examining both skarn/replacement and porphyry mineralization types, given the potential for expansion in various directions and depths.
In addition to the drilling program, Corcel Exploration has initiated a ground-induced polarisation (IP) geophysical survey at the project site. This survey, covering ten line kilometres using a 2D pole-dipole method, will concentrate on key exploration targets at Yuma King West and the Yuma King Mine. The aim of this high-resolution survey is to define geological structures and detect sulphide mineralization through exposed areas, enhancing the existing geological model alongside previous drone magnetics and surface geochemistry data.
CEO of Corcel Exploration, Jon Ward, expressed his excitement about the progress, stating, “Receiving official acceptance of our reclamation bond from the US BLM is an important milestone for Corcel, as it allows us to move forward with site preparation and drilling at Yuma King. With permits now in place, we are preparing to begin our 1,500m drill program across multiple priority targets at the project. At the same time, we have commenced an IP survey to help us better understand the potential scale and strength of mineralization across the property.”
The Yuma King Project, Corcel Exploration’s flagship copper-gold exploration asset, is located within the Ellsworth Mining District and spans 3,200 hectares (ha) with potential for various mineralization styles including copper-gold skarn and porphyry copper, molybdenum, and gold.
In a recent development, the company announced the acquisition of the Willow Copper Property in the Omineca Mining Division of north-central British Columbia, Canada. This property, covering approximately 1,160ha, is situated roughly 4km southeast of the Sustut Copper Deposit.
