EVE Energy, a prominent Chinese battery manufacturer, has recently completed the second phase of construction of its battery manufacturing plant in Malaysia. This expansion comes as part of the company’s ongoing efforts to increase its overseas production capacity in order to meet the rising demand for lithium-ion batteries in the automotive and energy storage systems markets across Southeast Asia.

The newly expanded plant is designed to be capable of producing a staggering 684 million prismatic and cylindrical lithium-ion battery cells per year across 15 production lines when operating at full capacity. This significant increase in production capacity will enable EVE Energy to better serve its regional clients by providing them with improved manufacturing efficiency and faster delivery times. Additionally, the completion of the second phase of the project lays the groundwork for future capacity increases, allowing the company to further enhance its productivity and strengthen regional supply chains.

In addition to its operations in Malaysia, EVE Energy is also making substantial investments in other regions to meet the growing demand for battery-powered and hybrid-electric vehicles. The company is set to invest EUR 1 billion in Hungary to build a plant with a production capacity of 28 GWh of 46-series batteries, with operations expected to commence in 2027. Furthermore, EVE Energy is planning to establish a facility in the US with an annual production capacity of 21 GWh of lithium iron phosphate batteries per year, which is scheduled to begin operations in 2027 as well.

The completion of the battery plant expansion in Malaysia marks a significant milestone for EVE Energy as it continues to strengthen its presence in key markets around the world. By expanding its production capacity and investing in new facilities, the company is well-positioned to capitalize on the growing demand for lithium-ion batteries in the automotive and energy storage sectors.
