The NYPD has recently released photos of two more individuals wanted for allegedly throwing snowballs at uniformed officers in Washington Square Park. The incident occurred after a post-blizzard free-for-all which turned chaotic.

The suspects, believed to be between 18 and 20 years old, were captured in surveillance images wearing black jackets. One suspect was seen carrying a large chunk of snow, while the other had his hood pulled up to shield himself from the cold.

The NYPD is seeking to criminally charge these individuals, along with two others whose photos were previously released, for intentionally striking the officers multiple times with snow and ice, causing injuries. Two officers had to be treated at a local hospital, one for a possible bruise behind his eye and the other for a headache from being hit in the back of the head.

The chaos began around 4 p.m. on Monday when a 911 call reported teens throwing snow off the roof of the park’s comfort station. Police responded to the call and were then pummeled with snow by the suspects.

Police unions and NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch condemned the actions of the snowball throwers, calling it disgraceful and criminal. However, Mayor Zohran Mamdani downplayed the incident as juvenile antics, emphasizing that officers deserve respect for their hard work during the blizzard.

As of Wednesday morning, no arrests had been made in connection to the snowball incident. Mayor Mamdani urged New Yorkers to treat officers with respect, stating that if anyone should be hit with a snowball, it should be him.

Overall, the NYPD is actively seeking to hold those responsible for the snowball attack accountable and ensure the safety and well-being of its officers.
