PayPal Rumored to be Considering Acquisition Plans

Recent reports suggest that PayPal may not be actively pursuing an acquisition, as Semafor has revealed, citing sources familiar with the situation.

Earlier this week, Bloomberg hinted at a potential acquisition deal between Stripe and PayPal Holdings, the parent company behind PayPal, Venmo, and other services. However, Stripe has chosen to remain silent on the matter.

Insiders at Semafor claim that PayPal has been collaborating with financial advisors to strategize for potential scenarios like an activist investor campaign or a hostile takeover. These advisors were reportedly in contact with Alex Chriss, the former CEO of PayPal who was recently replaced. The incoming CEO is set to take over next week, according to PayPal’s official statement.

Despite these developments, PayPal has chosen not to respond to inquiries from JS regarding the speculations.
