Convict Involved in Paula Deen Bank Robbery Found Dead in Brooklyn Apartment

The notorious convict who gained notoriety for holding up celebrity chef Paula Deen during a bank robbery in 1987 was discovered dead inside his Brooklyn apartment on Thursday.

Eugene Thomas King, Jr. was found unconscious in his Brooklyn residence by the police and was pronounced deceased by EMS later that evening.

At the age of 75, King passed away from natural causes, as confirmed by the medical examiner’s report.

The Office of Chief Medical Examiner revealed that King’s cause of death was hypertensive and arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease.

Following the infamous bank robbery incident involving Deen, King was convicted and served time for the crime. He expressed remorse and apologized to Deen through a statement to the police, emphasizing that he never intended to harm anyone.

King’s name resurfaced when Deen referenced the robbery during a 2013 lawsuit deposition. The lawsuit involved allegations of sexual and racial harassment against Deen and her brother.

The convicted bank robber had held up Deen while sticking up a bank where the not-yet-famous chef had been working as a teller.

Deen’s admission to using a racial epithet in reference to the robber led to a downfall in her career, shining a spotlight on King once again.

When asked about Deen’s use of the racial slur, King expressed empathy towards her, stating that she was facing backlash for a single mistake made in a moment of anger.

The NYPD deferred inquiries to the city medical examiner’s office, which was unavailable for immediate comment.
