Harrison Ford received the SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award during the 2026 Actor Awards, reflecting on his illustrious career. The 83-year-old actor graciously accepted the honor at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles, delivering a heartfelt speech.
Expressing gratitude for the recognition, Ford humbly acknowledged his peers, stating, “I feel incredibly grateful for this kind of attention, but to be clear, I also am quite humbled. I’m in a room with actors, many of whom are here because they’ve been nominated to receive a prize for their amazing work, while I’m here to receive a prize for being alive.”
Despite being honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award, Ford humorously remarked that it felt a bit premature as he considers himself a working actor still in the middle of his career. He credited his success to the support and collaboration of individuals like George Lucas and Steven Spielberg.
Reflecting on his journey, Ford shared, “I was not an overnight success. I struggled for about 15 years, going from acting job to carpentry and back to acting till I finally got a part in a wildly successful film.” He emphasized the importance of teamwork in the industry and expressed gratitude for the incredible collaborators he has worked with throughout his career.
As he accepted the prestigious award, Ford highlighted the joy of storytelling and the power of creating emotional connections through acting. He expressed appreciation for the privilege of working in a field that allows individuals to explore diverse ideas and experiences through the art of performance.
Furthermore, Ford expressed his gratitude to his wife, Calista Flockhart, and his family for their unwavering support. He acknowledged the role they played in providing him with love and courage throughout his career.
