Pronto, a Bengaluru-based startup, is revolutionizing the domestic help market in India by bringing it online. With a focus on quick and structured services for everyday chores like mopping and utensil cleaning, Pronto promises trained and background-verified professionals on demand. The company has seen significant growth, with daily bookings reaching 18,000 from just 1,000 last year. The median time between a customer’s first and second booking is only two days, showcasing the platform’s popularity and user retention.
In a recent development, Pronto announced a $25 million Series B funding round led by Epiq Capital, valuing the company at $100 million. This marks a substantial increase from its previous valuations, indicating investor confidence in the startup. With existing investors like Glade Brook Capital, General Catalyst, and Bain Capital Ventures also participating, Pronto’s total funding has now reached around $40 million.
One of Pronto’s key strengths is its workforce, which currently consists of 4,500 active professionals, with 99% of them being women. These professionals undergo in-person training and background verification before being assigned structured shifts to provide a more predictable income. The company aims to onboard more professionals to meet the growing demand, as bookings are increasing by about 20% week over week.
Pronto’s expansion strategy has been aggressive, with the startup now operating in 10 cities and over 150 micromarkets. Despite this growth, the majority of bookings are concentrated in key markets like the National Capital Region. Founder Anjali Sardana believes that there is still a huge untapped market for online domestic services in India, where most hiring still happens through offline networks.
As the competition in the home services market intensifies, with rivals like Snabbit and Urban Company vying for market share, Pronto remains focused on maintaining service quality. The company is also exploring new offerings like cooking, car washing, and dog walking, in addition to its core services of cleaning and mopping. With a lean team of 60 employees, including a strong focus on engineering, product, and design, Pronto is well-positioned for further growth in the evolving landscape of online home services in India.
