LevelK, the Copenhagen-based international sales and aggregation house, has recently acquired worldwide rights to the upcoming pre-school animated feature and TV series, “Betty Balloon,” directed by Puk Grasten. This early lift-off for the project was secured just before its work-in-progress presentation at Cartoon Movie in Bordeaux.
The animated feature is set for a theatrical release in Denmark in October, with Danish public broadcaster TV2 slated to premiere the TV series. “Betty Balloon,” a Danish co-production between Regner Grasten Filmproduktion and A. Film Production, tells the story of a modern family who are balloons. The central character, Betty, is a creative and imaginative four-year-old who befriends a cactus family that moves in next door.
Director Puk Grasten explains that the film and series celebrate openness, imagination, and emotional honesty. The soft 2D computer animation style is designed to appeal to a pre-school audience. Grasten, known for her award-winning debut feature “37,” received accolades for her visual storytelling and has now ventured into animation with “Betty Balloon.”
