Emma Raducanu’s former coach, Francisco Roig, has been spotted working with Gabriel Diallo at Indian Wells. Roig, who previously coached Rafael Nadal, parted ways with Raducanu after her early exit from the Australian Open. Despite their split, Raducanu expressed gratitude to Roig for his guidance and mentorship in a heartfelt message on Instagram.

Roig’s new partnership with World No. 38 Gabriel Diallo comes at a crucial time as the Canadian has struggled in the 2026 season, winning only two out of eight matches. Diallo is set to kick off his BNP Paribas Open campaign against Mattia Bellucci, with a potential second-round clash against 17th seed Andrey Rublev on the horizon.

On the other hand, Raducanu has had a mixed start to the season, winning six out of 12 matches. Her standout performance was reaching the final of the WTA 250 Transylvania Open, where she defeated several top players before falling to Sorana Cirstea. However, subsequent early exits in Doha and Dubai have tempered her momentum.

As the 25th seed at Indian Wells, Raducanu has received a bye to the second round and will face either Ella Seidel or a qualifier in her opening match. Despite her less-than-stellar record at Indian Wells, Raducanu has the potential to make a deep run in the tournament if she can maintain her form.

If Raducanu advances to the third round, she could potentially face sixth-seeded Amanda Anisimova. The American will take on either Anna Blinkova or a qualifier in the second round, setting up a potential blockbuster clash with Raducanu.

Overall, Raducanu’s journey at Indian Wells promises to be an exciting one, with the young Brit looking to build on her past successes and make a strong statement on the WTA tour. With Roig’s expertise now guiding Diallo, both players will be aiming to make their mark at one of the most prestigious events on the tennis calendar.
