Markwayne Mullin Appointed as Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem Becomes Special Envoy
After being fired on March 5, Kristi Noem has been replaced by Senator Markwayne Mullin of Oklahoma as the new Secretary of Homeland Security, as announced by former President Donald Trump on Truth Social.
In his announcement, Trump expressed his confidence in Senator Mullin, stating, “I am pleased to announce that the Highly Respected United States Senator from the Great State of Oklahoma, Markwayne Mullin, will become the United States Secretary of Homeland Security (DHS), effective March 31, 2026.”
Trump also revealed that Kristi Noem will be taking on a new role as the “Special Envoy for the Shield of the Americas,” a position within the new Security Initiative in the Western Hemisphere. He praised Noem for her service at the Department of Homeland Security, particularly highlighting her achievements in border security.
The announcement of these changes comes ahead of the unveiling of the new Security Initiative in the Western Hemisphere, which will be officially announced in Doral, Florida on Saturday.
As the transition takes place, the Trump administration is confident in the abilities of both Senator Mullin and Kristi Noem to fulfill their new roles effectively and contribute to the security and protection of the United States and its neighboring regions.
