A striking new cover for The New Yorker features a cartoon by Barry Blitt, transforming Donald Trump into a World War II-style general and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth into the president’s golf caddy. The image, titled “War-a-Lago,” graces the front page of the magazine’s March 16 issue.
In the illustration, Trump is portrayed as a general preparing for war in the Middle East, a stark departure from his previous promises of “America First!” and an end to “Forever Wars,” as noted by Françoise Mouly, the magazine’s art director.
Despite these promises, Trump’s Iran conflict continues unabated, with the recent deaths of seven U.S. service members. The cover art serves as a poignant commentary on the president’s shifting rhetoric and actions in the realm of foreign policy.
