Oprah Winfrey Denies Receiving Payment from Kamala Harris’ Campaign

Oprah Winfrey’s production company, Harpo Productions, has clarified that the media mogul was never “paid a personal fee” by Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign. This statement comes in response to rumors circulating that Winfrey had received $1 million from the campaign, a claim that has been debunked by Harpo Productions.

According to a spokesperson for Harpo, the campaign covered the production costs of the “Unite for America” live-streaming event that took place outside Detroit on September 19. Winfrey did not receive any personal fee from the campaign or Harpo Productions.

A recent report by the Washington Examiner delved into the financial decisions made by the Harris campaign, which raised over $1 billion in a short period and outspent Trump’s campaign significantly.

The Examiner highlighted that the campaign spent more than $15 million on event production, including a reported $1 million payment to Harpo Productions for the “Unite for America” live-stream. Harpo Productions did not disclose the exact amount paid by the campaign for the event’s production costs.

During the “Unite for America” event, Winfrey conducted an interview with Harris on various topics such as abortion rights and immigration. The virtual town hall also featured appearances from celebrities like Meryl Streep, Chris Rock, and Julia Roberts.

Following the Examiner report, some outlets wrongly claimed that Winfrey had received $1 million from the Harris campaign. In a video published by TMZ, Winfrey refuted these claims, stating, “I did not get paid a penny. Ever.”
