A gruesome murder case shocked the residents of Queens as a 75-year-old man was arrested for the murder of his much-younger wife, whose dismembered remains were found scattered across the borough. Rupchand Simboo was taken into custody at his South Ozone Park home, where he lived with his wife, Salisha Ali, 34, who hailed from Trinidad and Tobago.

The couple met in 2023 and maintained a long-distance relationship while Ali was living in Trinidad and Tobago. After Ali moved to Queens in 2024, they eventually tied the knot. However, their love story took a dark turn when Ali’s torso was discovered by Sanitation workers in a trash bag near Idlewood Park on September 22, 2025. The torso was missing its head, arms, and legs, wrapped in tape and rope, and bore unique and identifiable tattoos.

A forensic anthropologist determined that straight edge instruments, like a knife and saw, were used to dismember the body. The investigation took a chilling turn on March 5 when detectives found Ali’s head at the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge, linking the two grisly scenes. The circumstances of the murder and the exact time and place of the crime were still under investigation.

Ali was last seen on July 13 while on FaceTime with a family member, the same day Simboo filed a missing person report for her. This bizarre behavior raised suspicions among law enforcement. Simboo had a prior arrest in October for misdemeanor assault, obstructing governmental administration, and tampering with physical evidence related to the new case.

As the 75-year-old awaited arraignment, the community grappled with the horror of the crime that unfolded in their midst. The details of the case sent shockwaves through Queens, leaving many questioning how such a heinous act could have occurred. The investigation into the murder of Salisha Ali continues as authorities work to unravel the disturbing chain of events that led to her tragic death.
