Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine, also known as Daniel Hernandez, has been handed a 45-day jail sentence and a year of supervised release for violating the terms of his release. This decision was made by Manhattan federal judge Paul A. Engelmayer, who imposed a slightly harsher sentence than the one initially agreed upon by federal prosecutors, which included 30 days in jail and the same amount of supervised release.

The 28-year-old rapper, famous for his colorful tattoos and rainbow hair, was only a few months away from being free of court supervision when he was picked up on October 29 for failing drug tests and disregarding travel permission rules set by his probation officer. These conditions were part of a sentencing in 2019, where 6ix9ine pleaded guilty to allegations of joining and directing violence by the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods gang.

After serving two years in prison, 6ix9ine was released in April 2020 due to health concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, his recent probation violation led to his return to jail. The judge also ordered 30 days of home incarceration, 30 days of home detention, and 30 days of curfew once the rapper is released from jail.

During a court hearing in October, 6ix9ine apologized for his actions and claimed he was not a bad person. Engelmayer noted that he had granted compassionate release during the pandemic, making it disappointing that the musician could not follow the court’s rules.

Despite his legal troubles, Tekashi 6ix9ine continues to be a controversial figure in the music industry. His colorful persona and provocative behavior have garnered both fans and critics alike. It remains to be seen how this latest setback will impact his career moving forward.
