Beta Film has recently secured the international distribution rights for the Spanish series “In Vitro” ahead of its premiere at Series Mania. The show follows the story of a 37-year-old biologist named Blanca who starts working at a fertility clinic. As she navigates the needs and risks of her clients, she also begins to question her own desires and beliefs.
Created by Marc Crehuet and Alejandra Guimerà, “In Vitro” is directed by Crehuet and has been described as a heartwarming, innovative, and witty take on the process of conceiving babies. The lead role of Blanca is portrayed by Bruna Cusí, who finds herself facing ethical dilemmas that challenge her principles and convictions.
Blanca encounters Héctor, an embryologist at the clinic known for his blunt honesty which sometimes scares away clients. The clinic’s boss, Andreu, hopes that Blanca’s compassionate nature will balance out Héctor’s harshness. However, Blanca’s idealism sometimes clashes with the practicalities of running a business.
The series also features David Verdaguer, Diana Gomez, and Maria Pujalte in prominent roles. Produced by Moiré Films and Rodar y Rodar in collaboration with Bullfrog Pictures, “In Vitro” is a co-production with 3Cat and HBO Max Spain.
“In Vitro” has been selected as one of the ten series to be showcased at Series Mania’s exclusive event “Buyers Upfront”. Beta Film’s lineup at the festival includes a diverse range of content such as the first K-Drama “Snow White Must Die”, the Icelandic romantic drama “Everybody Loves Horses”, and the French thriller series “A Guilty Affair”.
