Apple has successfully acquired MotionVFX, a company specializing in developing plug-ins, templates, and advanced features for Final Cut Pro, Apple’s video editing software. The specifics of the financial arrangement have not been disclosed.

MotionVFX expressed their enthusiasm about the acquisition in a statement on their website, saying, “We are extremely excited to share that MotionVFX is joining the Apple team to continue to empower creators and editors to do their best work. For over 15 years, we’ve been on a mission to create world-class, visually inspiring content and effects for video editors. From the very beginning, we’ve been all about quality, ease of use, and great design. These are also the values that we admire most in Apple’s products, and we’re thrilled to be able to embrace them together.”

Apple, known for its discretion regarding acquisitions, did not provide a comment to JS. The publication will update the information if Apple responds.

Founded in 2009 in Warsaw, MotionVFX offers subscription plans starting at $29 per month, granting users access to professional video editing tools, graphics, and templates. Apple’s acquisition is expected to integrate MotionVFX’s tools into its own service offerings.

This strategic move may enhance Apple’s competitive edge against Adobe Premiere Pro and the broader Adobe Creative Cloud suite.

Earlier in January, Apple introduced Creator Studio, a subscription service providing access to six creative apps and premium content in iWork apps. Priced at $12.99 monthly or $129 annually, it includes Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, and Pixelmator Pro for Mac and iPad, alongside Motion, Compressor, and MainStage for Mac. Premium content is also available for Keynote, Pages, and Numbers.
