A London man has been detained after allegedly attempting to slash a commuter’s throat while claiming to be a CIA agent.
Zakir Ibrahim, 25, was charged with attempted murder following his arrest in Chicago on Tuesday, March 3, as reported by CWB Chicago.
According to authorities, Ibrahim approached an Amtrak passenger at Union Station in the city, holding a knife to the victim’s nose before attempting to slash at his throat, the outlet reported.
In a detention filing obtained by the outlet, prosecutors stated that Ibrahim held a knife to the victim’s face, stepped back, and then tried to slash the victim’s throat, missing by less than an inch.
The victim narrowly avoided the alleged attack and reportedly had to lean back to evade injury, according to the petition.
Ibrahim allegedly claimed to be a CIA agent and believed the victim was a hitman, prompting the attack on the train passenger, the outlet reported.
Authorities noted that the alleged attack was captured on video by several witnesses at the station.
Ibrahim was taken into custody and held without bond, as per court documents obtained by Fox News Digital.
An attorney representing Ibrahim was not listed in jail records.
According to jail records, Ibrahim is scheduled to appear in court again on March 27.
The Cook County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.
