Melissa Auf der Maur, a musician and past partner of Dave Grohl, has made striking claims about the rocker’s impressive bedroom prowess. According to RadarOnline.com, she credits him as the first man to bring her to the peak of physical pleasure, detailed in her new memoir. Auf der Maur attributes her heightened experiences to Grohl’s skilled hands.
Auf der Maur and Grohl’s relationship spanned from 1999 to 2001, following a less-than-stellar first meeting in 1998. The Hole bassist initially thought their encounter would be a fleeting one-night stand, but it evolved into a deep relationship, as she recounts in her memoir, Even the Good Girls Will Cry.
At 26, Auf der Maur experienced her first climax through Grohl’s touch, declaring that he was the first to bring her to such a point using only “just hands.” Prior to this, she admitted to not being particularly interested in intimacy, until Grohl introduced her to a level of physical pleasure she hadn’t known before.
Initially hesitant to disclose Grohl’s talents, Auf der Maur ultimately chose to share this chapter as part of her “coming-of-age story as a woman.” She explained in an interview that this revelation is meant for women exploring the complexities of female sexuality, rather than for Grohl himself.
“That secret of my life is not revealed for Dave, clearly. That secret is for all women who embark on the mysterious journey of orgasms and the overlooked mystery of women, everything,” Auf der Maur, who hails from Montreal, Canada, elaborated in a recent interview about her decision to reveal these details after more than 25 years.
Reflecting on her past romance with Grohl, Auf der Maur spoke warmly of their time together before Grohl married Jordyn Blum in 2003. “We had a beautiful love affair… We [were] both obsessed, committed to rock music, to the power of music, and both very non-drug addict, technically happy, highly functioning people,” she expressed in 2023, highlighting the similarities in their music careers with Hole and Nirvana as a subconscious draw.
When they parted ways in 2001, Auf der Maur described the breakup as amicable, with mutual respect for each other’s ambitions. She wished to retreat from the music scene and return to Canada, while Grohl pursued his passion and ambition with Foo Fighters, leading them to lasting success.
Grohl’s marriage to Blum appeared idyllic, with three daughters over more than two decades. However, in September 2024, the My Hero singer shocked fans by admitting to infidelity and fathering a daughter outside of his marriage. He publicly expressed his intention to be a devoted parent to his child, while striving to mend his relationship with Blum and regain his family’s trust.
Following a period of separation, Grohl and Blum were seen together in early 2025. By October of that year, they made a public appearance on the red carpet, indicating their reconciliation after the crisis in their marriage.
