Social media influencer Helena Riley has successfully raised over $12,000 through crowdfunding after revealing that she suffered a back injury.
On Tuesday, March 24, Riley took to X to announce her GoFundMe campaign. The Los Angeles-based star, who has a following of more than 146,000 on X, shared, “Hiiiii guysss i broke my back and it sucks. Here’s my gofundme. Love u!”
Initially setting her goal at $14,000, Riley had already reached $12,210 from 374 donors by the time of publication, just one day after launching the page.
The GoFundMe page provides insight into Riley’s medical ordeal. She explained, “Hiiiiii <3 I broke my back. It’s not an exciting story, I just fainted at home because of an unrelated health issue. I landed on my back and fractured my spine. Bummerrrrrrrrrr.”
Riley further elaborated, “It’s a long road to recovery and an extremely expensive process. My insurance sucks ass OBVIOUSLY. Unfortunately, I’m not in a financial position where I can hemorrhage tens of thousands of dollars without it kinda ruining my life. So I am asking for some help. I appreciate you all so so so much <3.”
Photographs on the page highlight that the funds will be used for “medical bills, lost wages, surgery and rehab.” Another image shows Riley taking a mirror selfie, revealing a brace around her torso.
Riley’s popularity extends across multiple social media platforms, including Instagram and OnlyFans, where she became well-known for her candy-eating videos. However, her posts on X have garnered the most attention and affection. In a 2023 interview with i-D Magazine, she expressed surprise at her X following, stating, “It’s bizarre because I’m known, but I’ve never done anything. I don’t do anything.”
Riley is among many celebrities who have sought financial support through GoFundMe during challenging times. Recently, a GoFundMe was started for the family of NHL reporter Jessi Pierce, who perished in a house fire along with her three children and the family dog.
In another instance, on February 21, Rebecca Gayheart and friends of her late estranged husband, Eric Dane, initiated a GoFundMe to assist with his family’s housing and education expenses. By the time of publication, $490,000 of the $500,000 target had been achieved.
