Malik Mack is set to make a change. As reported by Jeff Goodman, the Georgetown junior will enter the transfer portal. Mack has played two seasons with the Hoyas, recently averaging 13.6 points, 4.1 assists, and 3 rebounds per game.
The announcement prompted reactions from college basketball fans on X.

According to Yahoo Sports, Mack transferred to Georgetown after a strong freshman year at Harvard in the 2023-24 season. The point guard from Oxon Hill, Maryland, averaged 17.2 points, 4.8 assists, and 4.0 rebounds per game, shooting 41% from the field and 34% from three-point range for the Crimson.
The Hoyas recruited him to boost their offense and enhance their competitive edge, but his tenure with them was uneven.
What’s next for Malik Mack?
Mack’s shooting accuracy declined after joining Georgetown. The agile point guard shot 38% from the field and 32% from three-point range, averaging 13.3 points, 4.2 assists, and 3.0 rebounds over 66 gamesāall of which he started. He was a regular fixture on Ed Cooley’s team sheet.
The 2025-26 season was disappointing for Mack and Georgetown, with a 16-18 (6-14) record, resulting in their absence from the NCAA tournament.
Looking forward, Mack aims to join a team that will adequately prepare him for the upcoming NBA draft. He seeks an environment that will enable his development and allow him the freedom to shoot.
During his time at Harvard, Mack earned the 2024 Ivy League Rookie of the Year Award. He remains an attractive prospect for teams as he approaches his final year of collegiate basketball eligibility.
