In a bid to revive its popularity, the celebrity greeting app Cameo has introduced a new TikTok integration, enabling U.S. creators to offer personalized Cameo videos directly to their fans via the short-form video platform.

This partnership is designed to boost creators’ income while streamlining the process for fans to request these personalized videos. Creators can now register to provide custom messages within TikTok, making it more convenient for followers to access this service alongside the content they already enjoy. For creators already on Cameo, this integration broadens their audience reach.

This integration is a strategic move for Cameo, as it leverages the vast number of creators on TikTok and their large fan bases. TikTok users represent one of the fastest-growing demographics on the platform, with popular TikTok personalities like Ash Trevino, Alex Dougherty, and SmoothPapi currently leading Cameo’s leaderboard.

Cameo CEO Steven Galanis highlighted in the announcement that “Cameo videos regularly go viral on TikTok” and noted that “TikTok talent delivered its strongest year yet on Cameo in 2025.”

During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Cameo was valued at $1 billion, offering fans a unique opportunity to connect with their favorite celebrities through personalized video messages. However, in 2024, the company faced a significant downturn, experiencing a valuation drop of over 90%. It also faced financial challenges, including a substantial $600,000 fine from the Federal Trade Commission. To regain attention, Cameo launched a birthday planning app called Candl last year.

This partnership aligns with broader media industry trends, where companies increasingly recognize the value of influencers in enhancing their offerings. Streaming platforms like Tubi and Peacock have also collaborated with popular creators to produce original content.

TikTok already offers various features that facilitate interaction between fans and creators, such as tips, virtual gifts, subscriptions, and a newly launched “bulletin board” for creators to share public messages with their followers.

The introduction of Cameo’s new integration coincides with recent announcements of new ad formats and a hidden emoji game available in direct messages.
