Former WWE manager Dutch Mantell recently commented on Mercedes Moné’s global tour, noting that the wrestler is currently taking a break from AEW.
Moné took a hiatus from All Elite Wrestling after losing the TBS Championship, following a humiliating incident where she was powerbombed through a cake at Willow Nightingale’s TNT Championship celebration. While away from AEW, the 34-year-old competed internationally, defending her various independent titles. Unfortunately, her stint abroad has not been very successful, as she lost her titles to competitors including Persephone, Swan, Mila Smidt, Diana Strong, Alexxis Falcon, and Jody Threat.
On a recent episode of Story Time with Dutch Mantell, Mantell expressed his appreciation for Moné’s decision to defend her titles worldwide. He mentioned that there was minimal coverage of her matches outside of AEW and suggested that the company could have promoted her international tour more effectively. Mantell believed that Moné’s global appeal could have enhanced AEW’s reputation.
“Yeah, that was good. Hell, I kinda liked the idea. Did she do interviews in all these places?” Mantell said. “You know, they could have made a big deal out of that, of her going all over the world and that would have made AEW look better if they weren’t in some really cr*ppy arenas that you had 14 people sitting out there. There’d have to be more than that. Actually, they could have made that work.”
Mercedes Moné shared a message on social media
In the past month, Mercedes Moné has been on her Moné Madness Tour, traveling to different countries to defend her titles and engage in exciting matches with local talent.
Recently, Moné took to social media to declare her excellence. In a tweet, she described herself as the blueprint and standard bearer of the industry, asserting that others are merely striving to match her level.
The CEO is expected to return to AEW soon, and it will be intriguing to see when she decides to rejoin the Tony Khan-led promotion.
