Prince William and Princess Kate are planning to step away from public engagements for the next month, motivated by a deep commitment to family time, sources revealed to RadarOnline.com. This decision, described as “moving and wholesome,” comes after a busy schedule filled with royal duties.
Recently, the 43-year-old Prince of Wales and 44-year-old Princess of Wales have been involved in numerous royal commitments, such as attending the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey, a state visit to Nigeria, and many other engagements around London and beyond.
Kate publicly celebrated St Patrick’s Day and visited Leicester, while William made solo visits to the Mercian Regiment and Cornwall. With their children – Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7 – on school break from March 27 to April 22, the couple plans to take a break from official duties to focus on family.
A royal source explained, “For William and Kate, this isn’t just a time-off period; it’s a deliberate choice about their parenting values. They prioritize these school breaks as unique chances for meaningful family time without interruptions, shaping their schedules around this priority.”
While some may see this as a “disappearing act,” those close to them view it differently, noting the genuine and wholesome approach they take to being fully present at home. “For them, it’s about fostering stability and connection with their children, which they find more important than being constantly visible,” the insider added.
The couple is expected to retreat to Anmer Hall, their country residence on the Sandringham estate, where they have previously spent time away from public attention.
There is speculation about their attendance at the royal family’s Easter service in Windsor. However, they have often chosen to enjoy private, low-key family traditions during this holiday period.
Another source mentioned, “William and Kate have established a sustainable routine that separates their public and private lives. During school terms, they are fully engaged in their royal duties, but once holidays start, family becomes the main focus.”
“Their approach aims to give their children an upbringing that feels grounded and normal, which previous generations sometimes lacked. They focus on creating everyday memories through outdoor activities and family time, rather than a childhood filled with public appearances.”
Kate has spoken about the value of such moments, expressing how she cherishes time spent outdoors with her family. “Someone asked me what I want my children to remember about their childhood,” she recalled. “Is it sitting down to do homework on weekends, or is it lighting a bonfire and trying to cook sausages in the rain?”
This approach signifies a shift from traditional royal expectations, where public duties often came first. Insiders suggest William is particularly committed to providing a more balanced upbringing for his children.
A palace aide remarked, “There’s a strong focus on ensuring George, Charlotte, and Louis have a genuine childhood. William knows the pressures he faced growing up and is committed to giving his own children a more balanced and grounded experience. This awareness guides his parenting decisions.”
“Kate plays a crucial role in this approach, emphasizing routine, stability, and normalcy, which aligns with William’s instincts. Together, they strive to create a family environment that values these principles, providing their children with a secure, happy upbringing despite the unique circumstances of royal life.”
