SPOILER ALERT: This contains major spoilers for the finale of “RuPaul’s Drag Race.”
All hail Myki Meeks!
Myki Meeks has ascended to the throne as America’s next drag superstar on “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” seizing the crown from fellow competitors Darlene Mitchell and Nini Coco.
After claiming victory over her rivals, Meeks declared, “This is for my friends, my family, all of Orlando, live fiercely, love boldly, and write it in the books baby, the Meeks shall inherit the crown!”
In the finale, judge Michelle Visage welcomed back the season 18 queens to the main stage. The returning contestants included DD Fuego, Mandy Mango, Briar Blush, Ciara Myst, Vita VonTesse Star, Mia Starr, Athena Dion, Kenya Pleaser, Discord Addams, Jane Don’t, and Juicy Love Dion, who all made one last appearance after their eliminations earlier in the season.
Finalists Darlene Mitchell, Myki Meeks, and Nini Coco participated in a final showdown, with Mitchell finishing as the runner-up.
Jane Don’t was honored as this season’s Miss Congeniality. When asked to share her thoughts, Don’t remarked, “Congeniality is not something the women in my family generally aspire to, but one of the best gifts that this whole experience has given me is my relationships with these girls.” She added, “You are the best prize.”
Host RuPaul treated audiences to a rendition of her 2022 hit, “Mother of the House,” reinforcing her role at the helm of the show.
Despite facing challenges, including landing in the bottom of the Rate-a-Queen challenge, Meeks made a remarkable comeback. She triumphed in the political advert, makeover, improv, and final hosting challenges, earning the title of comeback queen and securing her place in “Drag Race” history by winning three consecutive challenges.
In the Snatch Game Challenge, Meeks impressed with her portrayal of Drew Barrymore. Following the episode, Barrymore invited Meeks to appear on her show, where Meeks arrived dressed as Barrymore. Barrymore praised Meeks, saying, “There’s such an accuracy.”
Now crowned “America’s Next Drag Superstar,” Meeks joins the Drag Race Hall of Fame and takes home a cash prize of $200,000.
Miley Cyrus was awarded the Lifetime award, joking during her acceptance, “This makes the Grammys look cheap.”
