A tragic case unfolded in the South Loop condo building on October 27 when the lifeless body of 36-year-old Caitlin Tracey was discovered in a stairwell. The circumstances surrounding her death have raised questions and suspicions, prompting investigations and legal battles over the custody of her remains.

Recently, a Cook County judge granted permission for Tracey’s family to claim her body after a temporary restraining order was placed on her remains. The legal battle ensued as her husband of six months, Adam Beckerink, sought to claim her body, but ultimately, the family prevailed when a Michigan judge ruled in their favor.

Despite the ongoing legal proceedings, the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has yet to determine the cause and manner of Tracey’s death. This crucial information will play a significant role in determining if foul play was involved in her tragic demise.

According to reports, Beckerink reported Tracey missing on October 26, stating that he had not seen her for about a month. However, investigators uncovered video footage showing the couple together just two days prior to her discovery in the stairwell.

Tragically, Tracey’s death occurred just days before a scheduled jury trial in Michigan, where Beckerink faced serious allegations of interfering with Tracey’s attempts to call 911 and resisting arrest in a violent manner. Additionally, another domestic violence case was pending against him in Michigan at the time.

While Tracey resided in New Buffalo, Michigan, she had been staying with Beckerink in the South Loop condo building where her lifeless body was found. Despite the troubling history of domestic violence allegations against Beckerink, he has not been charged in connection with Tracey’s death.

Tracey’s past attempts to seek protection from Beckerink through a restraining order shed light on the tumultuous nature of their relationship. She detailed instances of verbal and physical abuse, including incidents of being slammed against a cabinet, slapped, punched, and subjected to derogatory language.

Despite her efforts to seek legal protection, the protective order she obtained was later rescinded, leaving her vulnerable to further harm. The tragic events leading up to Tracey’s untimely death paint a harrowing picture of domestic turmoil and the devastating consequences it can have.

As the investigation into Caitlin Tracey’s death continues, the quest for justice and closure for her grieving family remains paramount. The truth behind her tragic end must be uncovered to ensure accountability and prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future.
