President Donald J. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump are set to host His Majesty King Charles III of the United Kingdom and Her Majesty Queen Camilla for a State Visit in Washington, DC, from Monday, April 27, to Thursday, April 30, 2026. This event represents the first official State Visit during the second term of the Trump Administration.
First Lady Melania Trump has overseen the arrangements for the State Visit, which is intended to celebrate the deep-rooted and special relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom, as Americans commemorate 250 years of independence.
On the afternoon of Monday, April 27, the President and First Lady will welcome Their Majesties at the South Portico of the White House. The couples will then proceed to the State Floor to enjoy tea in the Green Room.
Following their tea, Their Majesties will join the President and First Lady for a tour of the newly expanded White House Beehive, located on the South Lawn near the Kitchen Garden. After the tour, the couples will part ways, departing the White House Grounds.
On Tuesday morning, April 28, the President and First Lady will hold a State Arrival Ceremony on the South Lawn of the White House. Embracing a tradition that dates back to the 18th century, the ceremony will feature Military Honors provided by the United States Army Herald Trumpets. The national anthems of both nations will be performed by βThe Presidentβs Ownβ United States Marine Band, and a 21-gun salute will be rendered by the Presidential Salute Battery.
After an Inspection of the Troops and a Troop in Review, conducted by the U.S. Army Fife and Drum Corps, the President will address the guests from the South Lawn. The President, First Lady, and Their Majesties will then move to the Blue Room Balcony for a Pass in Review of 300 United States Service Members, with nearly 500 U.S. Armed Forces members from all six military branches in attendanceβa historic milestone for State Visits.
The ceremony will be attended by thousands of guests, including Members of the Presidentβs Cabinet, Congress, the official Delegation of the United States, the official Delegation of the United Kingdom, American military families, and students from the British International School of Washington.
At the end of the arrival ceremony, Their Majesties will sign the White House guest book and engage in an official gift exchange with the President and First Lady in the Blue Room. The couples will then participate in a receiving line with delegations from both nations in the Cross Hall of the State Floor.
Subsequently, the couples will proceed to the Oval Office, where the President and King Charles will hold a bilateral meeting. Meanwhile, the First Lady and Queen Camilla will follow a separate schedule.
First Lady Melania Trump and Queen Camilla will participate in a cross-cultural educational event at the White House Tennis Pavilion with American students. Aligned with Mrs. Trumpβs Fostering the Future Together initiative, the group, including state champions from the Presidential AI Challenge, will use virtual reality headsets to explore the United Kingdom. Participants will also employ AI-enabled glasses to study American history and the Special Relationship by examining artifacts from the White House Collection and the National Archives and Records Administration.
On Tuesday evening, the President and First Lady will welcome Their Majesties to the South Portico of the White House for a State Dinner in the East Room. Additional details about the State Dinner will be provided by the Office of the First Lady before the event. On Thursday morning, April 30, the President and First Lady will bid farewell to Their Majesties at the South Portico and the Diplomatic Reception Room.
