Gunmen fired shots during a robbery near the Sheridan Red Line station in Chicago on Saturday morning. Fortunately, no one was injured by the gunfire.

The incident took place when a group of men were standing outside at the intersection of Sheridan and Irving Park. A white SUV pulled up around 3:45 a.m., and approximately four men emerged from the vehicle. They brandished guns and physically assaulted the men, striking them in the face and body.

As the victims attempted to flee, one of the assailants fired shots in their direction. Police discovered a single shell casing in a traffic lane on Irving Park. Descriptions of the suspects were not provided by the police spokesperson.

Interestingly, the robbery occurred around the same time that armed robbers engaged in a shootout with an off-duty Chicago police officer near West Polk in the Loop. The robbers were traveling in a maroon sedan, unlike the white SUV used in the Sheridan Red Line station incident. It is suspected that the individuals in the sedan had also robbed at least one person in River North before following them into the Loop and firing shots near State and Randolph.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in either of the incidents in the Loop or near the Red Line station.

CWBChicago was established in 2013 by residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who were dissatisfied with the lack of accurate information provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. While our coverage has expanded to include areas like Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side neighborhoods, our mission remains the same: to deliver original public safety reporting with in-depth context and accuracy that surpasses mainstream media outlets.
